Who we are

This Privacy Policy covers moonastars.com (the "Site"), operated by Moonastars. For any privacy question or request, contact [email protected].

What we collect

• Twitch account data, when you log in with Twitch: your Twitch username, user ID, display name, and profile picture, plus your channel role (viewer/moderator/admin) used to gate access to the Moderation page.
• A session cookie (session_token), set after Twitch login, used only to keep you signed in. It's strictly necessary for the login feature and isn't used for tracking or advertising.
• Content you submit while logged in: Truth-or-Drink questions, Moon-a-thon Wheel spin activity, and the images, messages and other details you send to community events (e.g. "Rate My Setup" or anonymous confessions), along with your Twitch username/ID and any caption you add. Submissions are only accepted for events a moderator has explicitly opened, and are visible to moderators (to screen them) and Moona (to react to them on stream). Text-only submissions may be read out on stream without your name, but we still store who sent them so moderators can remove abuse. You can remove your own submissions at any time. Rejected or unused submissions are deleted; accepted ones are kept only as long as needed for the segment they were submitted for.
• Community playlist activity: when you add a song to the community Spotify playlist, we record your Twitch username and ID, the song, the time, and whether it was later removed. We also record when you accepted the playlist rules and which version. The playlist on Spotify does not show who added a song; this record is only visible to Moonastars administrators.
• Mod applications: if you apply to become a moderator, we store your Twitch username and ID, everything you write in the application, when you sent it and the decision (with any note the admins add). Applications are only visible to the site's administrators. You can look at your application any time (profile menu, "Your application"). It can't be changed after it was sent; to have it deleted, email [email protected].
• A theme preference (light/dark toggle) stored in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device.
• Standard server logs (IP address, request timestamps, user agent) generated by normal web hosting operation.

What we don't collect

This Site runs no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. Tips are handled entirely by StreamElements and merchandise by a separate storefront — we never receive or store your payment details.

Why we process it

• To provide the login feature and its functionality — viewing your role, submitting questions, spinning the wheel — necessary to deliver the service you're using.
• To moderate chat and stream content — our legitimate interest in running a safe community.
• To run the community playlist — checking how many song adds you have left, enforcing the playlist rules, and removing songs that break them. This is our legitimate interest in keeping the playlist and the community in good shape.

Who we share it with

• Twitch — for authentication (OAuth login). Twitch processes data under its own privacy policy.
• Our own Moonastars bot backend (moonabot.moonastars.com) — the same operator as this Site, used to run the login/session system, the Moon-a-thon megathon features, and the song-add counter (it receives your Twitch username to check and use up your song adds).
• Spotify — our server sends the songs you search for and add to Spotify, to search and to add tracks to the playlist. Your browser also loads album covers directly from Spotify's image servers, so Spotify receives your IP address and browser details when you use the playlist page. We do not send your Twitch data to Spotify. Spotify processes data under its own privacy policy.
• Our hosting and infrastructure providers, who process server logs as part of standard operation.

We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.

How long we keep it

Your session cookie stays valid for the duration of your login session and is cleared when you log out or it expires. Truth-or-Drink submissions and moderation logs are kept only as long as needed for the purpose they were collected for, then deleted. Community playlist records (who added which song, and your rule acceptance) are kept for as long as the playlist exists, then deleted.

Your rights

If you're in the EU/EEA, GDPR gives you the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Site changes. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Last updated" date.
